چکیده

Background: Staphylococcus aureus is a pathogenic bacterium that forms biofilms on biotic and abiotic surfaces. Biofilm formation important for researchers because it increases the risk of food contamination in industry, pathogenicity bacteria, damages equipment. The main purpose this study was to find out antimicrobial antibiofilm properties Oliveria decumbens essential oil (Od-EO) against aureus. Methods: In study, antibacterial anti-biofilm Od-EO were tested four strong biofilm producers. S. isolates obtained from humans. planktonic investigated using disk diffusion method; further, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) determined. microtiter plate (MTP) method slime production evaluation used assess effect formation. Results: indicated activity After performing tests related Od-EO, found significantly reduced thus inhibited Conclusions: its components can be as new agent medical, dental, industry

Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum essential oil prevented biofilm formation and showed antibacterial activity against planktonic and sessile bacterial cells.

Essential oils from six different populations of Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum were compared for their antibiofilm properties. The six essential oils (A to F) were characterized by a combination of gas chromatography with flame ionization detector and gas chromatography with mass spectrometer detector analyses. All oils showed weak activity against the planktonic form of a group of Staphylococ...

EFFECT OF CARUM CARVI ESSENTIAL OIL NANOEMULSION ON TUBO CANCER CELLS AND L929 NORMAL CELLS AND EVALUATION OF ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY

Background & Aims: Free radicals are one of the causes of cancer. In case of the disease, some cells of the body progress to the surrounding tissues and divide without stopping. The use of natural antioxidants plays a positive role in maintaining the health. Cancer and the presence of free radicals in the body motivated researchers to study substances that may eliminate them. The purpose of thi...

The inhibitory effect of Thymus vulgaris extracts on the planktonic form and biofilm structures of six human pathogenic bacteria

Objective: Microorganisms are responsible for many problems in industry and medicine because of biofilm formation. Therefore, this study was aimed to examine the effect of Thymus vulgaris (T. vulgaris) extracts on the planktonic form and biofilm structures of six pathogenic bacteria. Materials and methods: Antimicrobial activities of the plant extracts against the planktonic form of the bacteri...

Effects Of Myrcia Ovata Cambess. Essential Oil On Planktonic Growth Of Gastrointestinal Microorganisms and Biofilm Formation Of Enterococcus Faecalis

The essential oil from the leaves of Myrcia ovata Cambess., commonly used in Brazil for the treatment of gastric illnesses, was screened for antimicrobial activity and action in the formation of microbial biofilms by Enterococcus faecalis. The oil was obtained by hydrodistillation using a clevenger-type system. Its chemical composition was analyzed using GC and GC-MS. Both MIC and MBC of the es...
